COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Battery Atlanta is once again proving it’s not just for baseball lovers. A new Asian “street food” area called PH’EAST is already drawing a crowd, even though it doesn’t officially open until 11 a.m. Saturday.
“We’ve been doing our soft opening yesterday and, today, and it’s been packed. So come in while you can and grab a seat,” Seven Chan, managing partner of Poke Burri and Lifting Noodles Ramen, said. “It’s the only Asian and the only fast-casual place in here. It’s a mix of traditional Asian cuisines from all kinds of different countries, plus it’s the kind of things that everybody puts their own little twist on.”
Poke Burri and Lifting Noodles Ramen are two of the six vendors located inside PH’EAST. There’s also Fan T’Asia by Bobo Garden, Snackboxe Bistro – Lao Street Food, Kung Fu Tea, and TAPS bar.
“It’s supposed to be an experiential Asian food hall, based on the original concept of hawker markets that you’ll see in Singapore, perhaps Southeast Asia,” Mitchel Jaffe, owner and developer of PH’EAST, said. “It was interesting to me that the Battery did not have a true Asian offering, and so we collaborated with them on bringing something very authentic here.”
He said people can expect a unique experience centered around authentic Asian cuisine.
“It’s a combination of aesthetics, feel, lighting, music, offerings, menus, the bar, how it interacts with the battery itself, the patio,” Jaffe said. “These are permanent stalls. Their menus will rotate, and they will find things seasonally to put on their menus. That’s up to the operators. These are experienced operators we’ve brought in. They are the best, we think, in their category.”
Jaffe went on to say he’s excited to be part of the Battery which already offers great entertainment, food and drinks.
“We’re just glad to be part of the Cobb community, and we think this is kind of a cherry on the sundae,” he said.
According to Chan, PH’EAST can seat 80 people outside on the 1,500 square foot covered patio, or 90 people inside which is designed to make you feel like you’re walking through an alleyway in Japan or China.
“You’re going to feel that kind of small intimate feeling, but at the same time, we have a pretty big place and all kinds of cool stuff going on,” Chan said.
He added that they’ll be holding movie nights, trivia and other activities in the weeks to come.
“We have the DJ booth so we can do events, parties, and family-friendly things too,” he said. “Regardless of who you are or what kind of person you are, we’re probably going to have something amazing and different for you that you’re not going to find somewhere else.”

Ph’east
Coming to the Battery Atlanta at SunTrust Park, Ph’east is a 5,000-square-foot Asian food hall featuring vendors like Snackboxe Bistro, Lifting Noodles Ramen, Fan T’Asia, and Poke Burri. There will be plenty of bubble tea and beer, too. Look for it to open in January.”

Atlanta Eater: This Cantonese Restaurant Joins the Upcoming Asian Food Hall at The Battery Atlanta
“The owners of Buford Highway Chinese restaurant Bo Bo Garden open Fan T’Asia at Ph’east food hall soon
Fan T’Asia, a Cantonese Chinese restaurant from the owners of Bo Bo Garden on Buford Highway, is the latest stall to become part of Ph’east food hall at Battery Atlanta in Cobb County, Atlanta Magazine first reported. Ph’east, located across from the Aloft Hotel and next to Wahlburgers, should open by the end of the year.
In addition to Fan T’Asia, the 5,000-square-foot Asian food hall includes stalls from Doraville-based Lao restaurant Snackboxe Bistro, sushi and seafood bowl spot Poke Burri, Lifting Noodles Ramen, Kung Fu Tea, and self-serve bar the Taps with up to 40 beers, wine, cocktails, and sake on draft.
Further reporting by the AJC reveals dishes like sweet and sour chicken, salt and pepper squid, Hong Kong curry, and mapo tofu are on the menu at the Cantonese stall. Soups such as wonton and egg drop along with dumplings, sesame cold noodles, and Chinese fried wings are also likely to be offered at Fan T’Asia.
Snackboxe Bistro owner and 2018 Chef of the Year winner Thip Athakhanh told Eater Atlanta in March her stall features between ten to 12 dishes, with two dishes — yellow curry prawns and Lao-style grilled oysters — served exclusively at Ph’east.
The grilled oysters are a favorite of Athakhanh’s husband and Snackboxe Bistro’s general manager, Vanh Sengaphone. The dozen oysters are grilled over an open flame. A special sauce is poured over the oysters before serving and topped with a sprinkle of fried garlic, fried onions, and cilantro.
Ph’east includes both indoor and outdoor seating for around 200 people. The food hall is part of Prep, a commercial kitchen facility serving over 160 metro Atlanta entrepreneurial food companies.”

Atlanta Magazine: PH’EAST brings Snackboxe Bistro, Poke Burri, and other metro faves to The Battery Atlanta
“Expect favorite dishes from Snackboxe Bistro, Poke Burri, and more
LIA PICARD
Metro Atlanta isn’t quite at food hall capacity just yet. Ph’east, an all-Asian food hall, is set to open at the Battery Atlanta in late November.
Mitch Jaffe of Prep Atlanta (a shared commercial kitchen) is the owner of the 5,000-square-foot food hall, which is bringing several popular local eateries to a part of town that’s currently pretty national chain heavy. Seven Chan, co-founder of Poke Burri and Lifting Noodles Ramen, helped select vendors for the development. “Being able to do open a food hall setting gave us the ability to be there in the Battery in a way we probably couldn’t before,” Chan says. “We’re the only Asian place in the Battery, and I want to say that we’re probably going to be one of the best Asian places in that part of the city.”
It wasn’t hard for Chan to gain interest from vendors. “We had a line out the door of people that wanted to be part of Ph’east,” he says. “We really wanted to choose people that could really represent their category of food the best.”
Those vendors include outposts of Chan’s Poke Burri (which won hearts on Instagram with their sushi doughnut) and Lifting Noodles Ramen in East Atlanta Village. Snackboxe Bistro, the Doraville favorite known for their flavorful Laotian staples like pork belly laap and kua mee (noodles with ground pork, egg, and crushed peanuts), will also have its second location here. The newest vendor added to the lineup is Fan T’Asia, a Cantonese stall from the team behind Bobo Garden on Buford Highway. Expect to find classics on their menu like sweet-and-sour chicken and walnut shrimp. Ph’east is also partnering with Truck & Tap food truck bar for a bar area called Tap at Ph’east, which will have 40 taps of beer, wine, cocktails, and sake. If you’re looking for a nonalcoholic drink, Kung Fu Tea (the only non-local vendor in the bunch) will sell bubble tea.
For Chan and the food hall vendors, it’s significant to branch out to the Battery. “I think for the whole area, it’s going to be a new, exciting thing,” he says.

AJC: “5 new places to try ramen around metro Atlanta (Plus 5 more coming soon)”
Yvonne Zusel of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution gave PH’EAST a nice shoutout in her review of the best ramen in town:
“Ph’east. This mini Asian-focused food hall is slated to open at The Battery at SunTrust Park by the end of the year. In addition to Kung Fu Tea’s bubble tea, Poke Burri’s poke bowls and burritos, Snackboxe Bistro’s Lao specialties and Taps’ beer and cocktails, look for ramen from Lifting Noodles. The eatery, which has an existing location in East Atlanta’s Global Grub Collective, offers a variety of classic ramens and seasonal bowls.”
